Das Grab eines deutschen Soldaten

My wife's grandmother told me a story about grave of german soldier that died in the battle that took place near her village on august 1944 during Red Army offensive. The soldier was buried by his fellows near her neighbors house, but a few days later when neighbors came back to house, they leveled the grave and sow the grass on it (probably being afraid of being accused of his death). As almost no one knows about this grave there is a chance that there are still bones of this soldier in the ground. Do you know an instutution where i can ask about a missing soldier died in the battle near Nowe Piekuty village on august 1944?
